How do I submit a poem or story?
The only way to submit your stories or poems to us is via our website: www.chickensoup.com. Please select the Submit Your Story link on the left toolbar and follow the directions. After you hit the submit button you will received an immediate response that we have received your story or poem. It is the next screen that comes up after you hit the submit button and not a separate e-mail message from us. The message says, "Thank you! Your information has been received." This is the confirmation that your story has been delivered and accepted into our submission process. It is the only acknowledgment you will receive from us.
If you have any problems when trying to submit, please contact our webmaster at: email@example.com.
We prefer that you submit your stories only once, but if you believe your story fits in more than one book topic, please indicate which other topics you have submitted it for in the Comments line on the submission form.
Please do not send us any book manuscripts, unless through a literary agent, as these will be automatically discarded.
Before submitting a poem or story, be sure to view the Story Guidelines for information about what a Chicken Soup for the Soul story is and is not.

How will I know if my poem or story is selected for a book?
We receive an average of 100 stories per day. It takes about three years to fully develop a Chicken Soup for the Soul book before it is published. The selection process is very long and many people read each story in order to choose the best 101.

If your submission is not chosen you will not receive a rejection letter.
I previously sent in a story submission and my contact information has changed since then. How do I submit/update my new contact information?
If you have submitted a story to us and your contact information has changed please e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Include your first name, last name and your new contact information. Please include the e-mail address that you used with us before, as that is the only way we can find you in our system. If you have had a story published in one of our books, please give us the name of the story and the name of book in which the story appeared. If we have published more than one of your stories, please tell us the most recent one.
Can I submit my story to another publication if I don't yet know if it has been chosen for a Chicken Soup for the Soul book?

I really liked a story that was in one of your books, but I can't remember the title of the story, or which book it was in. Can you help me?
Regrettably, due to lack of research staff, we are unable to fulfill requests to locate particular stories or poems from one of our more than 200 different Chicken Soup for the Soul books. Eventually, we hope to have all the Chicken Soup for the Soul Stories and poems entered into a database that can be searched for on our computer, but until that time we cannot search through each book in hopes of finding a particular story or poem that fits your description.
